Physiotherapy is a regulated profession in Turkey. The law on practice of medicine states; “b) the physiotherapist, physiotherapy undergraduate education in the field belong to a faculty or Graduate schools graduated from the medical profession” (300).

In 1994, with the decision of the Council of Ministers, the “Physiotherapists Association of Turkey” and the ethical principles of the profession of physiotherapy was approved (300). Physiotherapist and Physiotherapist doctor are completely different terms for Turkey.

Physiotherapists have 2 years of education after high school and they cannot apply acupuncture. Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is a 4-year residency program for medical doctors (289).
