All externally-funded Competence Centers located at UiT Norway's Arctic University under the Department of Community Medicine (ISM) were in 2020 instructed to establish individual advisory groups before the end of 2021.
These groups will advise the centers' leaders on strategies and overall plans; on professional development and research, as well as on the progress and development of the Center's other activities.
Members and leaders of the advisory groups are formally appointed by the management at ISM, in dialogue with the leader of the specific Center.
The advisory groups can have from 3-7 members in total, and the following groups must be represented:
• Employees at the Center
• UiT employees outside the Center
• Important external audiences/ stakeholder groups for the Center
Members of such advisory groups are appointed for a period of 2 or 4 years, but no member can serve more than 8 years in total. Each advisory group shall have at least one meeting a year.
NAFKAMs leader chairs the meeting, and is the secretary of the advisory group. Also NAFKAMs chief Information officer is present in the Advisory groups' meetings, filling in for NAFKAMs leader if necessary.
