Physiotherapy is a regulated health profession in the UK. The title ‘Physiotherapist’ is protected by the state, regulated by the Health Professions Council (HPC).
Physiotherapists must be registered with the HPC and obtain a licence to practise. Legislation also requires that they meet the HPC’s generic standards of proficiency, conduct and performance.
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has established a code of professional values and the CSP standards (317). Physiotherapy in the UK is registered in the EU regulated professions database as follows:
