Herbal therapy is legally recognized as a CAM therapy in the group “herbal practice” in the law on CAM 118/2007 (238).
Only medical doctors, dentists and pharmacists with approved additional qualification, minimum a one year course with a diploma of competences, are allowed to practise phytotherapy in Romania (239).
A specialized committee for herbal therapy regulates the profession (239) and there is an association of MD phytotherapists. ANATECOR (national association for CAM therapies) organizes courses of herbal therapies for practitioners, and the courses are approved by the Ministry of Labour (237).
In medical schools or faculties of pharmacy students can take optional courses in phytotherapy (29).
