Massage in Finland

Masseur is a regulated profession by the act on recognition of professional qualifications (193/2007)(105). According to section 24a, a central register of health care professionals is managed by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, and masseur is directly mentioned in the law (105).

Massage is registered in the EU regulated professions database as follows: Masseur/Massage therapist/Spa therapist/Masseur-Aesthetician is a directly related regulated profession with title “Koulutettu hieroja / utbildad massör ” (Masseur (EN)) recognized under Directive 2005/36/EC(5), ID 742. General system of recognition- primary application. Qualification level: SEC - Certificate attesting the completion of a secondary course , Art. 11 b (7).
