Physiotherapy is a regulated profession in Cyprus. The title and the professional activity are protected by the state. The rules of professional conduct are determined directly by the state through national legislation.

The physiotherapist must be state registrated and obtain a licence to practise. Cyprus has a code of ethics for physiotherapists. The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Cyprus is the Ministry of Health (73).

Physiotherapy is registered in the EU regulated professions database as follows: Physiotherapist is a directly related regulated profession with title “Φυσιοθεραπευτής” (Physiotherapist (EN)) recognized under Directive 2005/36/EC (5), ID 1250. General system of recognition – primary application. Qualification level – PS3 –Diploma of post-secondary level (3-4 years), Art. 11 d. (7).
